Lillie’s Hope Haven: A Journey of Faith and Service

Introduction:

Jeremiah 29:11 – A Vision of Hope and Prosperity

Jeremiah 29:11 states, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” This verse resonates deeply with my journey and mission, as it encapsulates the faith and purpose that guide my work and life.

A Journey of Service Across the Nation

Founder Lillian W. Doctor – From my early days in White Hall (Green Pond), South Carolina, my journey has taken me across various states including Orlando, Florida; Virginia Beach, Virginia; Pensacola, Florida; New Orleans, Louisiana; and back to Virginia Beach, before finally settling in the serene town of Beaufort, South Carolina. Despite the numerous relocations, my commitment to serving communities, especially veterans and families with disabilities, has remained unwavering.

Early Influences and Community Roots

Growing up with my grandparents in White Hall, I was profoundly influenced by my grandmother’s dedication to elder care and our family’s role as a safe haven for teenagers. These experiences planted the seeds for my lifelong commitment to community service.

Professional Milestones

My professional journey came full circle when I returned to Virginia Beach as the Director of Religious Education at Chapel By The Sea and Chapel of The Good Shepherd. Here, my early experiences as a US Navy Seaman attending services evolved into a leadership role where I collaborated with the Judeo Christian Outreach Center to support community members without homes.

Overcoming Challenges and Adapting Vision

In 2018, a health challenge temporarily halted my plans to return to the U.S. Navy as a reserve chaplain. This setback did not deter my vision; instead, it redirected my path. Drawing from my graduate studies at Cambridge College of Boston and my participation in the Boots to Business program through Syracuse University, I founded Lillie’s Hope Haven. This non-profit organization is dedicated to providing essential assistance and resources to veterans and their families, ensuring they receive the support and care they deserve.

Lillie’s Hope Haven: A Beacon of Support

Driven by my dedication and compassionate nature, Lillie’s Hope Haven aims to make a lasting impact on the lives of those we serve. Our mission is to foster a sense of belonging and support, creating positive change within our community and beyond.
